Most people in the U.P. have never seen a rugby match. Our beginner guides explain the rules, positions, and scoring so you can walk onto your first practice with confidence.
The Berserkers
Escanaba's rugby club — built for the U.P.
The Escanaba Berserkers RFC is the Upper Peninsula's home rugby club. We train hard, welcome newcomers, and represent Escanaba on pitches across Michigan and the Midwest.
For every athlete
Every body type has a position. Speed, size, strength, or grit — rugby has a place for you on the pitch.
Real community
Post-match socials, road trips, and lifelong teammates. The third-half tradition is very much alive in Escanaba.
Elite conditioning
80 minutes of continuous running, tackling, and decision-making. Rugby fitness translates to everything.
No Experience Needed
Never played? Start Wednesday.
You do not need any rugby background to become a Berserker. Our coaches teach the game from the ground up, and veteran players guide every new player through the basics before contact. Practices are held Wednesdays at 7:00 PM at Ludington Park in Escanaba, Michigan.

Saturday, June 5, 2027. A 10-a-side tournament hosted by the Escanaba Berserkers, bringing clubs from across the Midwest to the Upper Peninsula. Fast rugby. Fierce hospitality.
